The Fleury family settled at the heart of the southern Champagne region in 1895. On Kimmeridgian and Oxfordian calcareous limestone hills, the family cultivates a 37-acre vineyard located in Courteron, 45 kms away from Troyes, mostly composed of Pinot Noir, with some parcels of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
In 1962, Jean-Pierre Fleury succeeded to his grand-father and his father taking over the family domain, which was cultivated with the chemical practices used at the time. In 1970, he started an ecological cultivation research: mechanical weeding, provision of organic fertiliser. In 1989, the transition toward a biodynamic agriculture happened quite naturally.
This Champagne which receives international rewards every year is the result of a true love for the region and its soils: bunches are manually harvested to better preserve grapes that are then carefully squeezed.
