Refugee Food Festival at La Chassagnette
From the Euphrates to the Rhône
La Chassagnette is taking part in the 8th edition of the Refugee Food Festival, which is supported by Elvira Masson.
The menu created for the occasion is the result of a long process of looking at and exchanging ideas, as well as memories, between Armand Arnal and Mohamad Nouri Hatoukh. The event is organised by the Refugee Food association, with which La Chassagnette is involved, to discover talents and tastes from elsewhere, promote the professional integration of refugees and bring everyone together around the table.
Mohamad Nouri Hatoukh comes from Manbij, in the Aleppo region of Syria, not far from the Euphrates. He developed a passion for cooking with his father in the family restaurant. And then the war, and then Turkey, and then Marseille. That's where he settled down with his family, where he got back to cooking at Chez Yasmine, the Palestinian-Syrian restaurant on Cours Julien, while learning French at Saint-Jérôme University. Today, his dreams are taking him further and further into the kitchen, and all the way to the starred-restaurant La Chassagnette.
Syrian dishes with a Camargue touch, local produce blended with spices, combined expertise and original food and wine pairings. Here's just a taste of what's in store for Saturday 24th, June.
